Tennessee Whiskey Sauce
Serves: Makes 1/2 cup approx. | Prep: 10 min | Cook: 45 min
Ingredients:
Tennessee Whiskey Sauce:
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely minced
1/4 cup Tennessee whiskey
1 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup teriyaki sauce
3 Tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 Tbsp soy sauce
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Directions:
Heat oil in a saucepan over medium low heat. Add onion and garlic. Cook, 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft not browned. Add whiskey and let cook for 3-4 minutes, until liquid reduces. Add pineapple juice, 2/3 cup water, sugar, teriyaki sauce, lemon juice, soy sauce, and cayenne pepper. Bring to the boil. Lower heat and simmer, 35-40 minutes, until reduced to about 1/2 cup, stirring occasionally.
