Tips For How To Cook White & Brown Rice
Rice Tip: Cooking method for long grain white rice and brown rice. 1 cup of dried rice equals about 3 cups of cooked rice.
Long grain white rice:
1 cup long grain white rice
1 1/2 cups water
1 tsp olive oil
Directions:
Firstly, rinse rice with water using a fine mesh strainer. This washes away starches that can cause the rice to clump together.
To a saucepan with a lid add water, oil and rinsed rice. Stir and bring to the boil over high heat. When water starts to boil, cover the saucepan with a lid, reduce heat to low, simmer for 15minutes.
Remove from heat and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Fluff rice with a fork before serving.
Brown Rice:
1 cup brown rice
2 cups water
1 tsp olive oil
Directions:
Firstly, rinse rice with water using a fine mesh strainer. This washes away starches that can cause the rice to clump together.
To a saucepan with a lid add water, oil and rinsed rice. Stir and bring to the boil over high heat. When water starts to boil, cover the saucepan with a lid, reduce heat to low, simmer for 30 minutes.
Remove from heat and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Fluff rice with a fork before serving.
A Great Tip To Keep Rice Warm:
Cover the saucepan with a clean tea towel, place the lid firmly on. This will keep the rice warm for 20-25 minutes.
