Applesauce

Serves: Six | Prep: 20 min | Cook: 15 min

Ingredients:

Applesauce:
2 lbs apples, peeled, cored, and cubed
1 strip lemon peel
1 lemon, juiced
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
In large pot add apples, lemon peel, juice, water, sugar, and cinnamon. Stir to combine. Bring to the boil. Simmer, 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender.

Remove the lemon peel, and with a potato masher, mash the cooked apples until smooth. An immersion blender can be used for a lump free applesauce.

Few Tips:
Taste apples before cooking, this will help determine if less or more sugar is needed.
Using different varieties of apples is a great idea.
If the applesauce is too thick just add more water until the desired thickness is reached.
