Mulled Wine

Serves: Five | Prep: 5 min | Cook: 15 min

Ingredients:

Mulled Wine:
1 bottle dry red wine
1/2 cup brandy
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 green apple, sliced
1 orange, sliced
8 whole cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise

Garnish:
Cinnamon stick
Star Anise
Thick orange slices studded with whole cloves

Directions:
Stud one slice of orange with eight cloves.

To a large pot add red wine, brandy, maple syrup, apple slices, orange slices, and the orange slice that was studded with the cloves, cinnamon sticks, and the star anise. Bring to a light simmer, not a boil! Reduce heat, cover and let lightly simmer for at least 15 minutes and up to 2 hours.

Serve warm in heat-proof glasses or mugs. Garnish and enjoy!
