Dutch Oven Bread

Serves: 1 loaf | Prep: 8 hr, 40 min | Cook: 45 min

Ingredients:

Dutch Oven Bread:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 package fast acting yeast
1 3/4 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup warm water

Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, salt and water. Stir with a wooden spoon until the dough comes together. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let it rest for 8 to 12 hours. Overnight works as well.

Place a cast iron Dutch oven with the lid on top into the oven. Preheat oven 450F/220C.Allow the covered Dutch oven to heat for 30 minutes while the oven preheats. Meanwhile, turn the dough onto a well-floured surface, shape it into a ball, and cover it with a clean towel again for another 30 minutes.

Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven, take off the lid, and gently place the dough inside. Cover with the lid and return to the oven for 30 minutes. Then, remove the lid and bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the bread is golden brown. Take the bread out of the Dutch oven and let it cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
