Cast Iron Apple Crumble
Serves: Four | Prep: 25 min | Cook: 15 min
Ingredients:
Cast Iron Apple:
3 lbs, (about 6) honey crisp apples, peeled, cored, and sliced 1/2-inch thick
3 Tbsp butter
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
1 Tbsp flour
1 tsp lemon zest
2 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Crumble:
3/4 cup butter, room temperature
3/4 cup oats
3/4 cup light brown sugar
3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
Directions:
Preheat oven 375F / 190C.
In a large bowl mix apples, light brown sugar, sugar, flour, lemon zest, juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg together.
Melt 3 Tbsp butter in a 10-inch cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add the apple mixture and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until crisp tender.
For thhe crumble topping mix butter, oats, light brown sugar, flour, cinammon, and nutmeg together, until fully incorporated. Dollop evenly on top of the cooked apples and bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown and crisp. Let cool 20-30 minutes before serving.
Delicious when served with Vanilla Custard, and Three Ingredient Vanilla Ice Cream
